Cumani trains his first winner!

May 06, 2016

Cumani’s imported galloper Our Covenant scored a narrow but tough win in a Benchmark 64 over 2400m at Bendigo on Friday.

Our Covenant was just the eighth runner saddled by the son of Newmarket legend Luca since he opened his Ballarat stable just a few months ago.

Cumani’s first runner was on April 1 and the horseman said he was thrilled with the way his stable is starting to take shape.

“They are all running really well and they all look fantastic and I am surprised actually its gone so problem-free so far so hopefully it will carry on next week when we’ve got a whole lot of runners,” Cumani said after the race.

Our Covenant, who was having just his second run in this country, was bought to Australia by Terry Henderson’s OTI Racing syndicate and Cumani was quick to hand out credit.

“I couldn’t have really done it without them so it’s fantastic to have my first winner for them.”
